Vendor Spotlight: Spotted W

Hello, my name is Cheri, and I am the owner of Spotted W - a trendy and affordable women’s clothing and accessories business on Facebook and at The Rusty Chandelier!

I am a mom to 5 wonderful children and one precious dog named Paris! I have a wonderful husband, Steve.  He has been my rock during this business adventure.

Shopping has always been a “hobby” of mine. I grew up believing that a bargain is the best kind of buy! When you have 4 boys and a girl, you need all the bargains you can get. I have always loved a good yard sale!  I used to sit every Friday and list all the yard sales by areas and then hit the road on Saturday morning at 6:00 am. I had a tradition for years of meeting my coworkers from the Laurel Bone and Joint Clinic on Saturday morning at 6:00 am. We would yard sale until about 10:00 am then hit PDI’s for a burger and fries.

For years, I have wanted to own my own business, but I never really knew what type of business I wanted to pursue. We moved to Dallas for a couple of years and then moved back to Laurel in 2010. Job hunting was getting stressful, and in the back of my mind, I kept thinking now’s the time. I kept noticing all these people using Facebook for their business, so that is where I began. Facebook after all is “free,” and that is the magic word. I jumped in and took the gamble. My first public venture was The Junkyard last fall at the Rusty Chandelier. I had no idea that one Saturday, in a $25 booth, under a tent, would change my life!  I sold so many clothes; it was crazy.  During that show, Steve left our booth for a few hours. When he called to check on me, I told him I was out of shopping bags, receipts and change! I was ecstatic to say the least.  That afternoon, I had a visit from the Junk Goddess, and I was invited into the Rusty family. The rest is history!

I have expanded my booth twice since I moved inside the Rusty. I could not be happier working with the Rusty crew!

The goal was to create a business where people could shop for clothes affordably. I have tried to keep in mind how hard it is these days to squeeze a new outfit into the family budget. I believe moms deserve a happy every now and then. I want moms and daughters to have a place to shop together where the prices are affordable and the clothes and accessories are fashionable. I hope shopping with Spotted W helps get that accomplished.  Spotted W continues to grow; I have recently started doing Trunk Shows. Trunk Shows are great way to have a girl’s night out and shop in the comfort of your own home!

People like to ask if I am opening up my own store, but I love the Rusty Chandelier and everything about it. I have developed wonderful customers and business is great. I keep thinking about the old saying “if it ain’t broke; don’t fix it”!

I could not be happier working with the Rusty Chandelier group. You will find anything and everything in this eclectic and fun place. I love my customers and enjoy seeing familiar faces every month along with many new ones.  I have become a personal shopper for some, and love it! I was missing something in my life, and I have found it at the Rusty Chandelier. Steve and I both have made so many great, genuine and honest friends while working here.  Steve now has his own booth The Vintage Roughneck. I consider my co-workers some of the best friends I have made in Laurel.

If you have not visited the Rusty Chandelier, you are really missing a truly fabulous experience. I hope you visit soon and experience the best southern hospitality around. You will find anything from clothing, jewelry, baked goods, antiques, vintage items, to plants, furniture, garden items and much much more!

I want to say THANK YOU to everyone at the Rusty Chandelier for being so kind and treating me like you have known me forever. Also, I can’t forget my wonderful customers - without you, this would have never happened “THANK YOU!”
I look forward to the 3rd Thursday every month, it does not come fast enough!

Happy Shopping!

SPOTTED W
